In a post a while ago I noted that the PocketPCs didn't come with an
MP3 player, they came with WMP.  I'll have to remember the playlist.

No one would start to build an MP3 player and end at WMP - but that
furthers my bic / cricket lighter v.s. pocket furnace / flamethrower /
toaster analogy.  They took WMP and added MP3, though none of the
standalone MP3 players use that UI.

You're supposed to convert them into a microsoft proprietary format
anyway.  Even with the potential IP encumbarances, MP3 is too open.

And the "free" WMP is probably sufficient to kill any development of a
MP3 specific player for the Pocket PC.
