And they have. Pirated versions of Stephen King's book along with people not
paying led Stephen to distribute an announcement stating that if more people
did not start paying, he would stop distributing eBooks.
There are probably as many excuses on why people crack and redistribute
stolen intellectual propery as there are people on the planet. Those that do
it won't stop until they go into business for themselves or the positive
reinforcement they get from their peers disappears. Those that "benefit"
from the stolen goods feel it's a victimless crime or they just don't care,
much like johns and hookers.
As long as it's the minority of the population.
