I tested this idea this afternoon, and it failed miserably. The application that shows up in the launcher and (I presume) would get the notification is the old one. I can't seem to set the icon name independently either (something not put into the tools for GCC I guess). I've got another that I'd like to get some input on before I try it. I could register another creator ID for the new name, and when the new app got the sync notification or was started normally, it could migrate the databases (using DmSetDatabaseInfo) and preferences to the new creator ID. Then I'd just need to tell the user to start the new app at least once before they delete the old one, for good measure. Any thoughts on that one?
