Comrades Mzu and Mdu I'm not excited with the Arch's promptings for a wealth tax for whites. I suppose I should declare my scepticism. Tutu's strategy to super-impose his views and channel public opinion in a path where high expectations are neutralised and anger watered down, with the assumption that he is the spiritual leader of Southern Africa, has gone unchallenged for a very long period. Politicians and intellectuals hardly call his bluff. He undermined the armed struggle and the militant response of the Azanian masses in the 80s, by advocating the pacifist route. The West entrenched this approach as a principal method of opposition to apartheid by gifting him the Nobel Peace Prize. Chief Albert Luthuli earlier received the same reward to counter-balance the Poqo Insurrection and armed struggle in the early sixties. Those who receive such awards gain prestige and their views are not questioned. However, Tutu sponsored the UDF which in turn killed innocent PAC and Azapo cadres. He did not consider this aspect at the TRC. Mandela and de Klerk received the Nobel Prize soon after the Sigqibo Mpendulo's household was raided by the SADF in Mthatha in 1993 and his teenage twins were brutally murdered. Tutu the spiritual/moral leader was tjoepstil like an Egyptian mummy. The TRC was skewed to protect the miracle of SA (read this to mean white interests) where the natives would not rise in anger to avenge the loss of innocent lives over the ages when settler colonial rule was in charge. This approach arguably even ridiculed Christian edicts of forgiveness - the victims extending a hand but the perpetrators spitting at it. PW Botha and his securicrats called the TRC a circus. Uncle Tom was a prominent individual, highly educated, outspoken and forever in the news to channel the aspirations of the people away from gut reaction and raw but firm response to the transformation and change of their lives. Uncle Tom, despite his wise antics, kept the resistance of slaves in check. But the masses saw through his performances and called his bluff. Uncle Tom was a sophisticated puppet. A free SA should have intrinsic value in all its citizens, who should be treated equally and fairly. Tutu and others of his ilk have protected settler privilege with constitutional instruments like the entrenched property clause. Almost 60% of citizens are trapped in poverty - the under class who make sporadic protests for "service delivery". They shall rise - and he is aware. My view is that this "wealth tax" for rich whites is a sop to keep the subjugated in check. They must say our beloved Arch is trying to speak on their behalf. In reality the tax will never happen because it is a non starter. Izwe lethu iAfurika

Professor Pierre de Vos surprised the country by publicly endorsing the call. I did not know who was De Vos, the only thing that I heard from this circulation was a tirade on him for his controversial judgments. Yesterday, interface on SABC 3 screened an interview of de Vos and Advocate Anton Alberts from the FF+. de Vos affirmed that Tax on wealth should be introduced, on the other hand, advocate Albert opposed that notion. These two gentlemen were very urbane in the articulation of their respective positions. De vos, somewhat sissy, but very elaborate and forthright in his arguments' I was impressed. Firstly, he argued that apartheid created inequalities that continued to have impact even in the post 1994 epoch. Reparation is an ideal means to have social cohesion, he argues. Remarkably, in his arguments he cited the case of East and West Germany. After the dismantling of the Berlin wall and the emergence of a united Dutchelande, Germans in the West were far better off than their eastern counterparts. Consequently, a 5.5 tax levy is imposed on the former western Germans due to their benefits that systemically prejudiced the easterners. Advocate Albert attempted to save the day, he relied on the 28 000 Afrikaners that lost their lives during anglo-boer war, de Vos rebutted that flimsy excuse. He pointed out that Afrikaners had 50 active years of affirmative action. I don't know about the other side of de Vos, what I do know now is that he supports us. Europeans have robbed us our resources. kind regards Mduduzi Sibeko Admin/finance cid:[email protected] T +27-11-724-9281 C +27-71-101-2595 F +27-11-900-1929 F 086-754-2176 E [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> www.randwater.co.za <http://www.randwater.co.za> This email and any accompanying attachments may contain confidential and proprietary information.
