If you want something compressed which sounds exactly like the  
original then FLAC or other lossless formats are perfect for this sort  
of thing, FLAC is probably the most widely supported form of lossles  
compression around but there are others and as I pointed out earlier,  
there are a lot of devices and players out there which will play it, I  
know that Rockbox has no trouble with cue and FLAC files etc.
Forgive me repeating myself but I store my CD'S in Cue-FLAC pairs,  
that way I have the original should I need to run off a copy and I was  
able to save a whole heap of space by ridding myself of close to 3,000  
CD'S.
