hi cornell,
It's the coaxial rca connection I want to be using.
and it's meant to be a permanent solution. so you say that I'll have to change this in the sound settings each time I startup my computer?

if spdif?

means digital optic line, your answer is yes. However, you will still have to go into your sound settings and place on 5.1, 6 or 7.1 channels for sound after you make the connection.

alternatively, you can also use the digital coaxial line or 7 separate analog RCA lines.

Best Regards, Cornell

Subject: question about SPdif

Hi all,
I want to use the build in spdif out located on the back of my computer rather then the analog jacks. It's a Asus p5Qse2 motherboard and it both has 7 : 1 analog outs, and one coax RCA SPDIF out. I want to connect this to my good old Creative inspiron 5700 5 : 1 surround system, and be able to listen to movies and so on in full surround. Is this possible, and will the computer send out all the 6 channels for the stuff in surround over the spdif?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards
Brian
