Hi, if you figure out how to get your TV tuner to work please share. I have
a laptop from dell with the media TV tuner built in and I have had no
success with it. What do you all know about the sling box? Would that be
a better option for TV? and reccording

Well. I did pick up a tuner today. And had my sighted friend help me.
Needless to say I still cannot watch tv on my pc. I have not given up
hope.
Now the setup want an IR controler to be part of the whole package. I'm
losing my mind. Oh well if I can get this thing working it will all be
worth.

You would think so, but I think you need to separately order either an
internal or usb tv tuner card if it's not listed in the specs. Do you
see anything from Haugepauge, Pinnacle or the like?
If you need to get a card or usb device make sure it is compatible with
Media Center.
Since you ordered from Dell, you should be able to hop on the phone and
confirm what's in the box.

I also thought to ask if you've got a tv tuner card installed or via
usb. The cable connection would attach to that card/device.

I would guess that it would be somewhere on the back. Is there a
panel hiding the bank of connectors?
I just checked on the back of my HP and it is just above the monitor
connection.
In thinking about your situation, could it be an HDMI connection
rather than a conventional cable connection? I have no idea of what
that would look/feel like!
