Hello Cathy and all other list members,
I don't know if this will work or not, I don't use iTunes.
But maybe you could copy the files to another folder, and use an audio file 
converter like Switch to convert them to MP3.
Again, I don't know if this works or not, but I think it's worth a try 
anyway.
