That may work if you really want to save a selection. However, if he
wants to save a file with a selected portion removed, then he needs
to be able to save the file after removing a selection. All he'll get
if he saves such a selection is material he doesn't want saved in
its own file, and nothing else.

hi thom, just call me, what I'm telling you works for me every time.
If the markers are in place the save selection as option is what you want.
just give it a name , tell it where you want to put it and your done.

Hello Ken and list: No soap! Either I'm misunderstanding, or this
just doesn't work! I did as you explained; all I get is (when
going to that "special file" thing) is the option to repair the
file! I didn't think that was what I wanted, but tried it
anyway! Result: I _still_ have the part of the file I don't
want! Maybe I misunderstood something?

Hi Thom
I don't know what controll s is used for.
What I said is
Shift l marks the left boundary and shift r marks the right
boundary or the stream.
Once this region is marked there is a special file save that you
get to using the alt key.
arow down in through the files menue and you will se special file
save and after you have named the file keep tabing until you se
different options for mp3 atc atc.
If you still have gtrouble call me at

Hello Ken and list: Not sure I understand what you're saying
here; when I press the "control-S" thing, nothing at all happens
as far as I can tell! Am I missing something here?

Hi Thom
If the file is properly marked with the
shift l for left and shift r for the rithe boundary, then when
you save the file,
thereis an option called special save that lets yhyou save that
marked section.
Don't forget to use the undo after you use this.

Subject: Progress Report On My Total Recorder Problem
Hi list: If you've been following this thread, you know that
I've been trying to trim off the unwanted parts of a
file! Thanks to lister Richard Godfrey, we were able to do it;
well, sort of! I can get Total Recorder to do what I want to
do; now my problem is: Total Recorder _will not_ save my
changes! Richard tells me that, upon pressing "control-S" you
don't get that "save as" dialog (which I didn't! But when I
then play my original file, all of the file is ___still_
_there_!" I really don't want to re-install TR; afraid I might
not get things set back as they are now! Can anybody advise on
what may be causing TR to not save my edit?
Tom Kaufman, feeling frustrated and a little hungry; gonna go
have lunch now!
