OK, I'm gonna make one more stab at this, and you ain't gonna like it I'm
afraid. Maybe cutting and pasting, and deleting within a file crosses over
into editing territory, and such options may be available only in the Pro
edition and above. I'll bet you aren't able to append one file to another
either. That unfortunately may end up being the source of your problem. I
certainly hope not, but I don't think you'll regret making the upgrade.

Just making sure. When you save as, when you tab backwards to see where
the file is being saved, it is being saved on the desktop? Just for the
hell of it, do a search on your hard drive for your file with Windows
find, just in case there is a duplicate. If there is, that may be the one
you have been working on.
I really wish you luck with this one. As I suggested, you might send an
enquiry to the guys at High Criteria and maybe that can suggest something
we haven't thought of. TR sure has been a great and reliable utility for
me for a lot of years, and I hope it will be for you in the very near
future.

Also try creating a new file from some other recording source, just to
see where it might go when saving. You might save using the file menu
in order to see just where files are being saved too. Have you tried
saving your work through the menus, rather than just pressing ctrl-s.
Try doing that, and tab backward from the file name just to get an idea
where TR is likely to save a file.

Are you absolutely sure that the work is being saved to the file on
the desktop?
Maybe you should copy the file to another folder, then bring the new
copy up from within that new folder with TR, and do it all over
again. Just forget the copy in the desktop. I know, it really
shouldn't make a difference, but I believe it is possible that TR
might be saving your resulting file to a folder of its own choosing,
although I can't say why exactly. I'm just trying to make sure that
you are sure that TR is using the desktop as a default, because it
doesn't usually. If I remember correctly, I think it saves folders
under my documents\my music, but not sure anymore. I have my files
presently saved to a folder of my own creation called "TR Downloads."
That is where I save my audio streamed recordings at present.
I know that this is a matter of personal preference, but I really
don't like to do such tasks from the desktop anyway, just for
housekeeping purposes, but I have my organizational eccentricities
just like everybody else does <g>.

the original file using Winamp, giving you the misimpression that
TR isn't doing its work. Or maybe I'm actually hoping that is

bit foolish for a while after realizing that you've been making
such a mistake, but there's nothing like making a bit of a fool of

selection, save the file, then close TR, then return to TR and
reopen the previously saved file with the selected material gone,
is it really gone? I mean when replaying it in TR, not with

Is there no chance that you aren't mistakenly replaying a copy of
the file in another location when using Winamp from another
folder on your hard drive.

irritating, but until we get this thing figured out, no stone

Tom an easier way to edit files is with a program called mp3
direct cut.
That one will allow you to mark the beginning and the end of
the portion
you want to cut out. That program is freeware.
