The satellite units are about a foot tal and two inches in diameter. They are round with the touch controls for volume on the right hand speaker. They appear to be two columns or sticks on your desk. They are good and heavy with about a 3 to 4 inch cylindrical base to them. The woofer looks quite like a small bee hive and sits on 3 or 4 small feet that allow sound to escape from under the unit. It really should be placed under a desk. The design is visually appealing and they are a part of the industrial design display at the NYC Museum of Modern Art. I believe they were originally intended to be used with one of the early Macs. I just read an ad/review of some new bluetooth/air play speaker/sound units from Cambridge Audio called MINX.
