The are several SCA-to-N-SCSI adapters on the market, and some of these 
simply do not work properly.

Also, my original post specifically referred to "converted" drives, wherein 
the seller had taken an SCA drive and had made a modification to it to change 
it to N-SCSI.

This is not the same as taking an SCA drive and interposing a properly 
designed adapter between the drive's SCA connector and the Mac's 50-conductor 
ribbon cable.

In specific case mentioned, the seller was upfront about the converted drive 
not being bootable. Other sellers may not be as forthcoming about the 
limitations of their converted products.
