SCA-->anything adaptors aren't really adaptors, 'cuz 80 pin SCSI is just 68 pin scsi with power and jumper pins added too. It's analogous to the Apple Display Connector to DVI adaptors. An 80-50 adaptor, though, has the same requirements as a 68-50 adaptor (which is all it is, plus a little more): it really wants to have those upper eight data lines (that make the 16 bit 68 pin scsi faster than 8 bit 50 pin scsi) terminated at the adaptor, and most cheap ones don't do it. that said, I have a 68 pin IBM drive with an 50 pin adaptor running on the motherboard SCSI of my 8100 linux machine with no problems, even though the adaptor is the kind I just told 'yall not to use. so, like everything else SCSI, Your Mileage May Vary -Tyler -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
