To follow an earlier thread about RAM, I posted the following, but unfortunately my subscription to this list has been buggy at best recently, so here again:
>Re: RAM, check out: > >http://www.velocityupgrades.com/index.asp?cat=promo2 > >Velocity is having one of their sales again, 128Mb for $18. > Figures... two days ago I got tired of waiting for another Velocity promo and just ordered two sticks from SMSAssembly for roughly $5 more apiece. Oh, well, SMSAssembly RAM tested fine and arrived here in record time (1.5 days!). I highly recommend them. Maybe I'll pick up another two sticks from Velocity supplies last. Anyway, I installed the RAM (168-pin EDO 5v) interleaved this morning and OS 8.5 ran fine all day for me. Then, when I tried to run the OS 8.6 updater I got bus errors. So, I de-interleaved and all went well. Would it do me any good to re-interleave now that the upgrade is through? I know de-interleaved is best for a G3/G4 upgrade card (which I can't afford yet!), but is the same true for 604e upgrades? Guage Pro was showing 64-bit 32MB/sec speed when it was interleaved, now it shows 64-bit 20-25MB/sec. I have them in slots A4 and B1 (as opposed to interleaved A4 & B4). --Chris PM 7500/604e 200Mhz PM 4400/603ev 200Mhz 4 gig SCSI 2 gig IDE/500 meg SCSI 256 megs/512k cache 64 megs/256k cache OS 8.6 OS 8.6, Attempting Linux (This machine rocks!)
