It seems the last two threads I have started on this list have gone everywhere but to the point.

Well, for one thing, you might try being less vague in your original post. And you might try having more realistic expectations. This list has a lot of people on it, but it's absolutely possible that none of us might have the exact answer to your question that you're looking for.
I asked directly if you wanted to listen to or create audio, but you haven't replied. Without a response, it's difficult to read your mind and understand what you're _really_ asking.
Just what the heck does your starting to "get serious with audio" mean?
You could, of course, try doing research for yourself instead of griping when no one here has the answer you want.
