Mike Nicewonger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wants to know...

I recently dug out my old old PowerCenter 132 as I found a Newer Tech
MaxPowr 225 accelerator card that fits it.

After some guidance on dip switch settings I have the thing installed
and the machine boots just fine.

Now I have a couple of questions. First, system profiler now says the
CPU is a 604e @ 241 MHz. Is that correct? I thought the card was a G3.
Shows my lack of Mac knowledge. ;)
----------
The MaxPowr 225 *IS* a 604e card, so that could be an accurate reading, Mike. The card's highest setting is 60 MHz bus x 4 = 240 MHz....but I haven't been able to find the specific documentation of those switch settings, either.

ASP is notoriously inaccurate with third-party processors, though. Go to pure-mac.com and download NewerTech's Gauge Pro utility - it tends to be much more accurate.

You're one lucky camper. I've been beating the bushes for a 60 MHz bus 604e card, to put into my PowerCenter MT.

Second question. I set the DIP switches (all 4 up) per the suggestion
of another list. What I would like to know is what does each setting on
the DIP do?
----------
They're for setting the bus speed and ratio - evidently all four switches up sets 60 MHz bus and 4x multiplier; can't say precisely which switches set which functions.

Last question. Do I need to reset the CUDA switch? ---------- Not if your PowerCenter already booted up for you.
