The printer does have an extra USB port >(so total of two) on the front intended for digital cameras. Of course >then I'll need an 8.6 compatible USB 1.1 card... I seem to be taking a bit of guff here, and I probably deserve it. I didn't intend to drive anyone from the list. I thought the question was that the writer wished to network a PPC with an iMac and a printer, or some such. What I was trying to do was direct the writer to other lists which, I thought, might be of some help. So, you are trying to network an iMac running OSX with a 7300 running 8.6 and this does not have anything to do with either the iMac list or the unsupported OSX list? OK, I was wrong to suggest the Unsupported OSX list. But yeah, this list is for the older OS's on PCI powermacs since it definitely is not for a 7300 on OSX, there being a list for that. I have a 9600 on OSX and I network an Apple Laserwriter from a 6100 on 8.6 and another printer (an HP870csi) from the 9600 to two other computers on the network. I used Unsupported OSX to get me running. So that's where I was coming from. About hassling the nanny, the way to ask a nanny why he/she jumped in, is off-list, not on-list. Calling anyone out in public for doing their job wrong - in your opinion - can be construed as hassling. There is always room for disagreement but cut me some slack, OK? I put my pants on one leg at a time too, and I seem to have got both legs on one side this time. Paul -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
