What do you mean by split screen? How do you do this with one card? Anyway:

Go into the monitors control panel and take a look at the options. It is
very clever. You can put the menu where you want, you can have all your
screens as one big one and so obviously you can have whatever you want of
software windows appearing as you choose, PS on one actual screen (eg. this
is left of the big virtual one which consists of the 2 actual screens) and
say a text file on the right screen. You can also have each screen duplicate
the other but don't do this as it is pretty well useless for desktop use.

There aren't any except far-fetched ones like a maniac bursting into your
home and killing you out of jealousy for having what he has never had...
er... um... or winning a crazy TV comp for having the best screen set up
among a series of contenders, the money from which you use to learn
parachute jumping and on your first jump, the chute fails to open... or the
tiny bit of extra electricity you use is just enough to trigger a bill that
tips you into bankruptcy...  :)
