Hi to all [PCI] Helpers!

I had a reply with [snips] of each Re: but N/S Comm.4.05 'quit'-I hate that
word.
so am trying again without the quoted replies. Briefly, I have 8500 going again
with a newer S/G HDD. IBM drive had corrupted Finder/file structures. Was able
to run TechTool CD tests on it but TT couldn't repair. Aside from ext.
conflicts on
newer HDD, which I have solved (yeah, sure ;o) it is booting and running pretty
good. A few gliches to the contrary makes me think I'm not quite done with it
yet.

But, it really is good to have learned things from you all, and to see Mac
boot up!
I'm now aware of CUDA switch. Is it a re-set for mobo data? I didn't see any
change
after holding it down. I have not always had ID#0 HD terminated, so that may
have
caused some or all of the Finder/file struct corruption. My ignorance is
paying off.

Good advice! I suppose the <Level 2 cache card> goes back in too... after
CUDA?
Is it the single cache chip between the banks of DIMMS? Also have an open slot
above those, top right corner, looking at inside of mobo- what might it be for?
Guess I need a service manual (or schematic, just to show what I can mess up).

Yes, I mean 'termination'- I shouldn't abbreviate (like, I'm saving $ by doing
it?)

Why would they, when I'm abbreviating my wild thoughts into incoherrency? ;o)
Then again, maybe someone knows what the heck I'm 'trying to ask about'...

Makes good sense. Does anyone know how this jumpering & commands are done?
I thought it'd be nice to switch on a 2nd internal HD- plenty of fan pwr. in
8500,
& enough room in bay and belly for 1 or 2 more drives, turned off when not
use.
GaugePro show it runs at 100F (this 6100 stays around 130! It was 134 'til
I snapped 1"x4" horiz. cover in its place, in back/heard it cools better
open/No!
That temp. is higher than some drive mfrs. recommend for top end temps. Yes?

Thanks to all who have helped me, wading in deep water of Lake Macintosh-
at least it is clean and clear, not yet contaminated by the Sea of Microslop.

YooperJim my 4pg. website <http://geocities.com/jimkilpy> was done three
years ago on 1st Mac/Performa550/33Mhz. Didn't even know how to copy&paste.
I learned about freezes as I typed stories directly into online wizard & lost
it all.
