Not sure this is so. Most web pages have no java and many pages do not even
have javascript. And the amount does not vary with the size of the page. But
you are certainly right about the isp connection speed being a huge factor.
I am sure one does not need 400 to usefully use the web without too much
frustration.

Yes, well designed sites are ones that keep javascript out or to a minimum
quite often. And keep graphics down to cater for low bandwidth. I can't
quite see that it is your processor that holds up the streaming. Why is it
not the factor you identified at the beginning, namely the isp connection?
After all, do you have trouble playing QT movies when not on line? Same
thing online except that the info has to come down in time. It is not coming
down quick enough. There may be some cpu factor here at work, but I bet not
as much as the line bottleneck.
