The problem is more fundamental. USB is a clever protocol (advanced), Serial
is a stupid one (simple/basic.) You can't make a stupid protocol into a
clever one without a lot of extra hardware. This is why you would need a
controller - such as PCI interface - to regulate the comms.

5200, yes, but he stated it was a 5200 upgraded with a 5500 motherboard. A
5500 has a PCI slot.
