Thanks for all the help I have received. I have my 6400 apart. took the cd out hard drive cleaned and reinstalled. Minus the cd player. I connected an external cd player to see what would happen. It spat the cd out. The system will not recognise any cd player on any id number. Which means I cannot install a new system as all I get is a disk with a question mark. I have tried switching off the start up disk control but it still opens the installed 9.2.2 system. I looked through the system and saw that an application or extension called Proxy App is missing. Could this be the problem. Any one else come across this problem ??
