Hmm, well, it does take a bit more force than you might
expect. I push up the latches, give a bit of a hard jerk,
and hold the bottom edge away just a little bit while I
work a putty knive into the space between the front and
side panels, prying the edge of the front panel away from
the side panel. This frees the plastic "hooks" from the
loops on the side panel.
And another bit of advice for Mark - if you ever do get the front
panel off (mine was so painfully difficult to remove too) it's a good
idea to file those plastic 'hooks' down a little, so the panel just
clips on & off with little effort. Now I can take the front of mine
off singlehanded if I need to - with no stripped fingernails,
bleeding, stabbing or arguing with the computer that should be
renamed "Macintosh Feral Pig".
