Took me less than 5 min to get the fornt cover off. Turned the bugger
upside down, pushed the bottom latches in under the edge, and pried
gently with an ordinary table knife at the side of the cover, where
the side latches are. One side started to come out, so I worked some
more on the other, and all of a sudden the recalcitrant cover was off.
See http://www.zone6400.com/manual/files/front_top.html and/or
http://www.zone6400.com/manual/files/alternate_front.html
The lower side latches are located on height with the "grille" on the
front cover. a putty knife is probably a better tool than either a
screwdriver or a table knife, because it's wider and less likely to
mark the plastic on the front cover. Once the cover is off, the rest
is easy.
Really!

What I mean is I can pop the bottom latches, but the
hooks on the side panel absolutely will not give
whatsoever. Any more force or leverage would break the
plastic. I shall try again since my internal HD is
iffy and I have a pristine 6 gig that would eager take
is place, as well as an old scsi 1 gig HD I'd love to
stick in the top loft.
Speaking of USB though, what it the easiest
motherboard or port adapter to use with a wireless
USBnetwork card?
Not sure what you mean here. I got a "generic" two
port
USB PCI card (make sure it is OHCI compliant) for just
a few $$. What is a "wireless USB network card?"
Someone gave me a wireless card that connects into a
USB port. It is a device that resembles a small modem
[and may contain on in fact] with an attena. It is not
an internal pci card at all, it sits externally. It
was from a pc network but I wanted to test it on a
mac, but alas, I am too low end and none of my macs
have USB.

You really do need the putty knife unless you want to
break something. I have taken many apart and most have
broken pieces on the edges of the side panels. It is
really a terrible design.
Oh, you have a "wireless USB adapter." You will need
a USB port to test it.
