Thanks to you all who reponded either on-list or off list to my query. It was suggested that my Westell modem was a modem/router, which would be problematic connected to another router. Sure enough, I turned the unit over and plain as could be it says "DSL Router". A couple of others had sent links to sites that described how to configure this modem/router with another router, so I tried to follow the directions to reconfigure the Westell unit. Problem was, my web browser wouldn't or couldn't make the connection to the modem.

Stymied there, I pondered the fact that when I had both units connected before, I was at least getting far enough for Verizon to tell me that I couldn't get on the net because they couldn't confirm my password. So I decided to power everything down, reset, reconnect, and power up everything in the exact order that the web site indicated, and then see what I could do about the password situation. That many-step process completed, I started the web browser, chose an item from the "Favorites" menu, and turned my attention to something else.

I happened to look back at the screen a minute later, and much to my surprise I was online! I don't know exactly what it was that made it work, but I suspect it had something to do with resetting the Linksys router, as that is where the username and password are entered.

So once again the helpful folks on this list have helped another baffled Mac user out of a quandary. Many thanks.

Gary
