I have been leaving my computer on due to boot problems. That means my Cable Modem Internet connection is on. Recently I have been finding pop-up ads all over my screen, even though I do not have a browser running. I tried one of the popular pop-up killer programs suggested on this list, but it did not always kill the ads and it caused problems with pop-up dialog boxes that I do want to be active.
I noticed that Zone Alarm, which is always running, will lock out the Internet after a set number of minutes of inactivity. That seems to work, and seems like a good idea, but I have found it to be a little flaky. Is anyone out there experienced at using this feature? Ideally I would like to set it to cut off the Internet after 5 minutes of inactivity, and then allow access after a key press or mouse move..... ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
