It displays fine with all images in IE 5.5 on win2k.  Which version of 
windows is on the laptop?  Did you dump the Temporary Internet Files folder 
in IE on the laptop?  Do other sites display images properly in IE on the 
laptop?  If not then I think what might be the problem is that you have no 
image compression installed or it may be installed improperly.  If you go 
into Control Panel, then Add / Remove, click on Windows Setup, then in the 
Multimedia section look to be sure that the Image Compression is checked on 
and choose next.
Reboot your laptop, and if after viewing your site it is the same you 
should look to see if you have the latest drivers for your video card 
installed.  HTH
