it could be ANYTHING, Frank....and hardware is not my forte so I'm hoping someone else can jump in here and help you
I just recently solved an 8-month-long lock up problem I was having......I did EVERYTHING and nothing fixed it.......finally, for unrelated reasons, I switched my mouse (actually same exact type of mouse, just a new one) and THAT solved it.......so you just never know good luck Linda Linda's Computer Stop http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/ Editor, ABC ~ All 'Bout Computers http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/ABC.htm Online Instructor, Eclectic Academy http://www.eclecticacademy.com/index.htm -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Frank Sestir Sent: Saturday, January 26, 2002 11:52 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: PCWorks: Compaq locking up on booting Thanks Linda, I removed the vswp.vxd file and it booted okay a couple of times, then it started locking up again, on ly now the file is turbovcd.vxd. I looked this up and it is related to the modem (can't really remove that). Any ideas what may be causing this progression of lockups at bootup? Could it be the hard drive failing, or a memory problem? I just replaced the power supply earlier this week. TIA Frank ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
