Sue if you removed ZA and your PC still works, consider yourself VERY lucky! ZA is notorious for not being able to be removed. The net is full of horror stories about having to reformat and the like due to ZA botching the uninstall. Now I can't remember the fix since I don't use it anymore, but I THINK, *think* that is, that it was a DLL file left behind. ? Maybe someone remembers this and can give more info on it.
What you should have done (and what you should do now) is not have removed it, or reinstall it now, and just go to msconfig's startup tab and uncheck the entries for it. Could be one, could be more, I don't remember. It may not be "Zone Alarm", it could be under another name. Then it should have no bearing at all on what you do since none of it is being loaded. As for removing it from the registry; if you have uninstalled something, then yes its' ok to remove the entries from the registry. Make a full backup of the registry first though. MAKE SURE you ONLY remove the key, or portion of the key that is "Zone Labs", "Zone Alarm", etc. Again here, it could be under many different names.
