Did you pay for the article or just read the free pages? I don't think it will change anything as MS wants to have subscription based software sooner than later. One firm I worked for used MS SMS to read all desktops within the enterprise, and it was the entire system too. Every piece of software legit or not. And this was in 1999 too.
It seems as if the technology is improving. Now if M$ products weren't so heavily pirated perhaps they would not engage in these practices, if this wasn't MS it might be true.
