Hi everybody. I've been using Comcast for more than a year and had zero problems so far. Measured download speed at 3Mbits consistently, that means 375kb per second, or almost 22MB per minute (at that speed you can download 2 full CDs per hour) . The upload speed is 256Mbits, if you translate in KB it's 32kb per second, not much, but 8 or more times normal dialup modem upload speed. Peak downloading speed with a local server is usually around 400kb/s.
Only problem is setting up the account, you have to trash the CD they give you and phone their technical support to do it (seems programs on CD do not work on purpose, so they can charge you for the installation after the Comcast man connects the modem to the cable.)
at this very moment I performed 3 measurements with different servers, upload speed varied from 3169 to 2969 and upload from242 to 240 I have performed measurements at several different times of the day and the resuls are almost identical. (no nearby servers, all 3 are in California)

Asking anyone else may not be comparable to your area as it is determined how far from the switching
station your speed will be. Whatever your speed is, it will not change.
Cable on the other hand, depends on how many subscribers are surfing, downloading, any given time in your
area, so as more people subscribe, your speed slows down. I have also had people complain that they loose
the cable signal, or it becomes pixelized when someone in the home is downloading.
