I would prefer cable access but it isn't installed in this house and I don't care to get it. Thanks to all who answered my question and supplied helpful information. Looks like the best compromise for me is Verizon DSL at up to 128KB upload and 768KB download. These are speeds Verizon quoted to me after testing my line, for whatever it is worth.
