Look. I'm fairly new to this list. Here's how I see it. If you can tell what the post is about via the subject line and with a decently seperated quoted section from the prior post, maybe from even two prior posts, then who is *anyone* to tell me to use brackets, quotation marks, dashes, or whatever the heck I choose? If you can tell what section is the replied to quote and what section is my reply, stop squabbling over the semantics, and wasting my time by filling my email box.
IMHO, the responding posts that make the most sense are the ones who reply directly after the pertinent parts. For many posts, this would be "interspersed" replies.
Many people write in with more than one problem in a post. Interspersed answers are much easier to follow, rather than having to scroll _up_ or _down_ to find the question.
Also, changing the subject line to reflect the subject of your post would be additionally helpful. In addition, deleting the parts of the previous post that have nothing to do with what you're asking about, or offering info about, would also be helpful.
