Well it could be it's just simply a hotter running PS.  So what 
are the temps, and how are they being monitored?  What exactly 
do you mean by the "wrong type power supply"?  If it's 
"working" then it's not the wrong type.  It's possible it could 
be more underpowered as compared to the old one and that could 
make them run hotter.  Always be sure the fan intake areas of 
PS are free from obstruction.
