Depends on what you want to play exactly. I've never gotten into MP3's, so I can't say if WMP 6.4 "Classic" by GaBest will play them. But, it plays ALL video formats. It's like the good 'ole days when WMP wasn't spyware or trackware. It's WMP "version 6.4" basically, but someone really tweaked it to support all video file types and there's an extensive audio support section too.
WinAmp may be no better than WMP as far as trackware/spyware goes, I've never tried it. If it has to constantly communicate back and forth to M$ and various other places for ActiveX and codecs, that's not good. This WMP "Classic" version I use doesn't do that. If you want to try it, and can't find it, let me know. It's pretty stripped down compared to the recent WMP as far as audio goes, but has more video features. -Clint Merry Christmas to all & God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ) http://ComputersCustomBuilt.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Dougherty" Thanks Ben... I was checking ratings on some of this software and it seems Winamp rates better than Windows Media.. Thoughts? My main objective is so my daughter can download songs and transfer Cd's to MP3 for her player. Jeff ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Moore" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Media Player 9 work with Win98SE on. You can get it here. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player.aspx Ben Moore -----Original Message----- Jeff Dougherty Good day folks.. Got my daughter an MP3 player for Christmas, but having trouble converting CD's to MP3. She has Win98 on her computer. I've seen some software for sale that does this, but also found out Media player on my XP laptop will do this for free... If I upgrade her computer to Win2000, can I install Media Player 9.0(I think that's the newest), or do I need XP? Thank you.
