You can't have an "Ethernet connection" unless you have a
broadband modem (cable, DSL), and of course the ISP that is
providing it to you, or, if you have two or more PC's networked
together via Ethernet.

NIC is an acronym for Network Interface Card. PCI means it
fits in a PCI slot on the mobo. You can go to the Device
Manager and to see if there's a NIC on the PC. It could be
integrated, or PCI. Or of course you can look at the back of
the PC and see if there's an RJ45 connector. Looks like a
conventional dial-up modem connector, just bigger.

We have a new computer and I was wondering, how do you tell if
you have an
ethernet connection? Our last computer didn't have one so we
had one
installed. I think this one does but I'm not positive. Also,
what is a
PCI NIC Card?

Thanks,
Cindy
