Is this plain text email or HTML? When you say "opening some graphics" do you mean just viewing them in the message body, or opening them as an attachment?
With plain text format, you don't need to open any attachment, just scroll down to the bottom of the email and see the image. If you're seeing a red X there, the image wasn't sent properly. Same with seeing a red X where an image should be in HTML email. However if this is happening with EVERY email, then it's OE. Most people and business don't know how to send HTML email or even plain text email with images. If you look at the source code for the image that's a red X, and you don't see any href and http:// for the FULL image path, that's the sender's mess-up. Many just try and copy and paste images in an HTML email and that doesn't always work since then it references a "cid" number on their HD instead of the http:// path for the image's location on a server. In the case of plain text, sometimes the image will send, sometimes it won't using the "copy 'n paste" method. To be sure they should click "attach" in the toolbar then browse to the image location on the HD. The bottom line is you have to determine if it's happening ALL of the time with ALL emails with images, or just on a few. If the latter, it's probably the sender's fault. If the former, it could be OE/IE settings, or even an ISP issue. -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ) http://ComputersCustomBuilt.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sandy Amdur" < A friend of mine is using Outlook Express 6. He is experiencing difficulty in opening some graphics - either he is getting the red x within a box - or he is unable to open some attachments. Googling resulted in mostly unchecking the options on the security page for stopping attachments, etc., which I did. I did a repair of IE, also scandisk and defrag. Results were the same. Any other solutions I missed in 407,00 hits from Google? TIA ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
