I'm running SP2 here on all my machines.  On an explorer window, go to
tools, View and scroll down and see if you have "Launch folder windows in a
separate process" checked.  I can cause two instances of explorer.exe if
that is checked.

Meir I can't get your original posts, probably a blocked bad IP 
range.  I'm not talking about IE which is Iexplore.exe, but 
Explorer.exe.  What you describe is normal behavior.

Yes Peter, I'm hoping I can get a few on SP2 to at least reply 
as to how many explorer.exe's they have running, opening and 
closing folders.  I only got one reply so far (thanks again 
Mike) and he didn't have the issue.
