I have one old notebook set up on my home network as a music server. It has a large external USB drive attached which hold my 8000 mp3's. The computer/drive is shared as "MUSIC". It is hardwired to the network (not wireless).
While I have no problem seeing the Music Drive on any of my wired PC's (or my wired AudioTron) I can't seem to see it with a wireless connection. (The Wireless connection works fine for the internet and all and my LinkSys WRT54G router provides the remote wireless computer a valid IP). If I plug the same laptop into a network wire it sees the home network (and the music drive) fine. Wirelessly I can't access the home network (including the music drive). I am running (foolishly) an unsecured wireless connection. I have played with and disabled software firewalls (XP and ZoneAlarm). I have the router set to "trust" the range of IP addresses that include the remote wireless laptop. Any suggestions??? ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
