FROM a misunderstood reader (this is not directed to *only* Clint):

It amazes me how remarks can be picked up the wrong way; I thought my email was clear. I'm not complaining about Clint's postings. As I said in my remark, I have the highest regard for Clint's storehouse of computer knowledge. I'm surprised it was picked up as a denigration of what he is offering.

My point is that contrary to point 3 below, I have very little "sources" of information or "knowledge" and that is why I was asking for some explanation of what the Secunia posts were. Note that I didn't even know what to call them so I used the term "support-o postings" (because I happened to see that term on top of his last "secunia" post. I don't even know what that means.

Now from your remarks, I learn that it has something to do with computer security. That's all I wanted to know. I know so little about this that I don't even know how to use that information. And it's possible other people are in the same boat. Fortunately, I don't think my system is compromised but one never knows.

So Point 1 (see below), I'm not filtering anything. Point 2, I get the PCWorks Digest and don't know what that has to do with archives (btw, PCWorks archives is fantasitic; easy to find any earlier postings). Point 3 I already covered. And Point 4, nobody is asking for the "secunia" posts to stop --- again, it was just that I didn't know what they are.

I'm repeating my original question below where I don't see where I said anything derogatory about any of the good work that the very knowledgeable people in PCWorks are doing; for you guys and girls (ladies?), I have the highest respect. Why those two paragraphs were picked up as a complaint by four people, I'll never know. --- Harold

FROM Clint:

1. No one is forcing you to read them. Set an email filter for "Secunia" if you don't like them.

2. It's NOT MY FAULT that there is something wrong with the archives.

3. Not EVERYONE has your "sources" of information or "knowledge". Consider other members that do NOT have your "other sources".

4. As usual, no good deed goes unpunished; so, the hell with it.

Original Posting:

Questoin for Clint (or anyone else who can help me). Dear Clint, I know you are a storehouse of computer information, and are very helpful to the group.
We all know that and appreciate it. But poor me does not understand what I am supposed to be getting from your (for want of any name), your "Support-O"
postings.

They often have the same "look" and I am sure all have different information, and important information. That's the problem; I don't know
what that information means. I know I am missing something so if you or anyone can explain what I am missing, without thinking I am rude, please enlighten me (and possibly other newbies in the group). Or am I the only idiot here? --- Harold
