I submitted a patch on sf for that a few weeks ago. It proves useful for me, because I use a tiling window manager (notion/ion3). One thing I have to add is an horizontal scrollbar, because sometimes 1024 pixels wide is not enough (try Pure-Data/examples/rradical/showcase/impl/).
