Well, I've been watching the forum for some time since the introduction of the new Adobe Acrobat 6.0 program and it seems the general consensus is that it is VERY buggy to date. So, I had to check out my PDF forms and see how they run on the 6.0 Reader. For the most part they operate about the same, but for whatever reason my form navigation technique is going all nutty in the newer version. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but I'll be investigating (someday when I get spare time).
I know my script checks versions, but it is set to check for versions lower than 5.0 and do actions accordingly. Should be fine with 6.0, but alas it's not.
At any rate, I HATE to spend more time reconfiguring this HUGE PDF download I have created, because it is becoming increasingly more futile. We are upgrading our whole process to an ASP interface with a SQL database for web access. Finally, Adobe will be completely out of the picture (for the most part anyway).
So, I am simply looking to put a script on the PDF now to check the version number and suggest the user use no version higher than 5.1. With that, I'm looking on Adobe's site now for something that USED to be there, but is hard to find now. That is a page where you can download previous versions of the Reader. Anyone have any ideas where this might be?
Sorry for the long winded email to get to the point, but Adobe is making me INCREASINLY more frustrated with its product.
Any help is greatly appreciated. THANKS
As many major versions of modern softs (from different editors) Acrobat 6.0 may be considered as the 1st public beta release, full of silly bugs.
(Remember Acrobat 4.0 and 4.05, 5.0 and 5.05, etc)
Wait for the next minor upgrade, it couldn't be long...

About version checking, all infos are in the Acrobat 5 "AcroJS.pdf" help file, provided with a sample.
