I have just received an Email from Adobe regarding a Bug in Ver 6.0 which
they reckon it is the same bug as it was in version 5. Here it is:

Dear Easa,
Thank you for contacting Adobe Technical Support.
Basically this issue falls outside our support realm. This was a bug in 5
and is expected behaviour with ver 6. I would advise you to peruse the
forums on planetpdf.com and perhaps the forum on adobe.com to see if anyone
else has had similar experiences...
Kind regards,
Daniel Bissett
Adobe Technical Support

This was a problem regarding the way that fdf files are called in Ver 6.0
compared to ver 5.0 etc. in IE.

Easa

As many major versions of modern softs (from different
editors) Acrobat
6.0 may be considered as the 1st public beta release, full
of silly
                bugs.
                (Remember Acrobat 4.0 and 4.05, 5.0 and 5.05, etc)
Wait for the next minor upgrade, it couldn't be long...

About version checking, all infos are in the Acrobat 5
"AcroJS.pdf"
help file, provided with a sample.
