I have not used any software to generate PDF Form automatically. However you
can generate form fields programmatically (using Jscript) and apply it on
any new form to generate those fields in a specific location on your form.
You can do wonderful stuff with JS if you know how to use it, but for me,
it took a long time to learn how to use it for simple stuff. Maybe others in
the forum can provide a better tool.
Cheers

Off Topic------
Do you know if it is possible to Take a PDF document and
layover form
fields, and have those fields populated by a database for
output to a
printer??
Or, do you have to create a PDF form from scratch?? Is there
software
available to make the generation of PDF forms easier??
Thanks for your help

I suggest to use a DB on the server and keep the PDF form
and User entry
data completely separate. User entry data are recorded on
the DB, and merge
this data on the form whenever the user calls this form. If
the data is not
complete, again use a field in the database to present the
data has not been
finalised yet.
This might be because my knowledge of Acrobat is not as good
as many others
in the forum, but I have done this situation using CFM/ASP
and DB & PDF
Templates over the web successfully, (I use FDFMergeLite to
merge the data
on the form on the server).

Clyde,
I've noticed that the forms on our server
also seem to
retain the entries
from one session to the next for a given
user, but of
course, users cannot
save the modified forms to the server. So I
also struggled
with the same
problem (resetting the form on page close
(or open)), until
I realized that
if *another* user accesses the same form,
the data entered
by the previous
user of the form is not visible.
I would think that it is currently
impossible for your users
to save a form
back to the server after making entries; if
not, I would
think that the IT
staff could restrict the rights of users so
that they could
not write to the
server.

Friends,
I am truly impressed with the knowledge base
of the
participants of the
list! Every day, I am learning new things
that improve my
ability to create
useful PDF forms.
My question today is one that has stumped me
for months. I
initially posted
it on the Adobe Forum Page but got tired of
checking for an
answer after
several months.
Using Acrobat 4.0, I have a number of
multi-page forms that
I have posted on
our department's Intranet site. I am
applying security to
each document
(changing document and select text or
graphics). I have
tried to set page
action on page close (or open) to "reset
form" in order to
make sure that a
clean copy remains on the server. When I do
that, multi-page
forms reset the
first page when you move to the second page
and vice versa.
The process
works fine for single page forms!
Staff need to be able to access, complete,
save to their
desktop, email and
print forms. (We are not at the stage where
we would use
the FPF format -
long story).
Without the page action, I am afraid that
staff will leave
completed forms
on the server. Is there a way I can permit
the completion
of multiple page
forms (online or on the desktop once saved)
and have the
page action reset
the form just to be safe.
Again, I appreciate all of the information
that is provided
on this list and
look forward to your suggestions or advice.
