I used BBEdit to do a batch search-and-replace, and it worked like a charm. You'll have to tell BBEdit to search file type "Any File" instead of "All Available"
PDF files are NOT ASCII and SHOULD NOT be treated as such. Doing so will BREAK the PDF and REQUIRE that you reopen it in Acrobat and resave...
