First, let me quickly explain my situation. While I have no formal training
& limited experience, I find myself in the postion of being resonpsible
for pre-press production. I find from reading the posts here & in pdf
basics, that on software & training, there is much we need, but at this
point I have to work with what I have.
We will be getting a print job that will be created in PageMaker, then the
pdf's sent to us. Our procedure is to impose the pdf's to Quark 4.1,
then rip. I'm concerned about the color. My limited past experience has
been that the black text will be converted to 4/C. Is there a way
around this, either when it is initially laid out, distilled or after
we receive? I have Acrobat 5 and know how to correct color photos that need to
be cmyk, but nothing beyond that. I'm dreading this, but the deal has
been done, at another office, without any input from us. My only option is
to get it to press.
Sorry if this is too vague, I really don't even know what questions I
need to ask.
