There are not that many people making higher-level presentations with PDF, but you mention it. Also, we have to be aware that Acrobat can not be considered to be a presentation authoring tool.

As stated above, Acrobat is not an authoring tool per-se. So, if you have a good toolset to create the documents elsewhere (maybe start creating a market for pre-cooked PDFMARK-EPS files which can create some of the features by simply placing those files in the document and then have them processed with Distiller), you might be better off.
I agree with Max. Think Authoring tool to create revise content(in my case Quark) and Acrobat production>delivery.
Most of my work is more course-style than corporate 'bullet point' presentation, but after a lot of development and help from this list I've found that Acrobat can hold huge amounts of images, movie, text and interactivity (see below). However a big limitation with PCs is that users need to have Quicktime installed, or in my case, install it from the CD.
I also agree with Max that once you are out of automated interaction such as tables of contents and indexing, using pdfmark-eps files are essential (though there still doesn't seem to be a utility to create them) so as to free up revision, additions, or to accomodate editors who want the order changed.
