Steve,

I'd expect the same. However, it appear that MS might have made a special
effort for Mac versions and actually may have a stew boiling that could end
up with better prepress compatibility with MS Office. I recently got a
PostScript file exported from a customers VISIO environment that had *very*
Illustrator-like code contents. To me it seemed as a poor third-party
overall implementation of an EPS filter, but it worked as most users would
expect for that particular job though I was quite surprised to see CMYK code
from a MS app.

Perhaps MS Word adapt a few properties under certain circumstances ...

Thanks for information. In fact I am not sure that Word don't keep files
CMYK... in fact if I import a RGB image in WORD and create a PDF ,
Distiller tells me that the file is not compliant due to RGB content. When
I import CMYK images in WORD, and create a PDF, Distiller tells me that the
file is compliant with PDF-X 3... Moreover when I separate plates, the K
plate is ok.>>

Specifically what type of images, though?

I'd expect EPS to behave this way. Nothing else.
