I guess the problem is more simpler than Dov mentioned.

HP always use Adobe Certified PostScript  .
but some how I feel is it is page layout problem !!  or driver problem ..
not the firmware inside the printer.
that's why the PCL driver printed OK .

try to use Adobe Driver and use the PPD for Hp LaserJet 8100 printer .
or even use Generic PS Printer and your job will be printed OK .
