I'm a little surprised (no let's not start that) that a developer should think that a pre-flight tool is the same thing as a PDF validator. > Please can you recommend some other tool to pre-test PDF > files, other than Acrobat itself of course. We'd all like one of them. I don't know of any. Acrobat especially is not a PDF validator, but of course is a reference implementation... and there have also been bugs which have caused Acrobat to reject perfectly good files. These are rarer, but possible. Mostly it is developers who have stopped when they got a PDF file that seemed to work, rather than reading carefully the specification in detail. PDF creators essentially have to revisit their PDF creation software and retest for each version of Acrobat - and if they have a strategy for fixing a body of broken files that's a bonus. It may be worthwhile sharing the file - on a web or FTP site, please don't e-mail it either to the list or me! Many people have looked long and hard at the inside of faulty or Acrobat-upsetting files. Aandi To change your subscription: http://www.pdfzone.com/discussions/lists-pdfdev.html
